Established in 2025, Sid The Cat Auditorium is a live music venue located in the heart of South Pasadena. For the past decade, Sid The Cat has been a champion for the local music community in Los Angeles and beyond. For years, founders Brandon and Kyle have sought to find the perfect home, a venue as a beacon of music, art and community center for artists and music fans alike. It is proudly independent and all ages.

Venue History

Sid The Cat Auditorium has a rich history in the neighborhood as a school then later the SPUSD district office. El Centro Elementary School was one of the first elementary schools built as a single-story property for fire safety and as a model of educational architecture. It was built in 1931 and was innovative and the first of it’s kind. Enter quote from news clipping here when it was built. The auditorium boast ceiling murals from Lucile Lloyd which have survived and been preserved for historic remembrance.

  • The Auditorium was built from June to October 1931 for a grand total of $19,000 by L. E. Dixon Company, one of LA’s largest contracting companies at the time. It was designed to match the Romanesque Revival style of the main building by architects Marsh, Smith and Powell.
